About Gabriela
Gabriela has been working as a professional translator and interpreter in the English/Spanish language pairing since 2015.
Born in Lima, Peru, Gabriela moved to the United States at a young age when her parents were offered professional opportunities in Alabama. Since then, she has called Birmingham her home.
Gabriela received her Bachelor of Arts with Honors from The University of Alabama in 2010, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in International Studies, Spanish, and French with a minor in Liberal Arts from the Blount Undergraduate Initiative. While in school, she studied abroad in Paris and Madrid. She then went on to receive her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School in 2013, where she completed internships in immigration and human rights advocacy in Washington DC, international law in Quito, Ecuador, and was a student attorney in GW’s Immigration Clinic. She is admitted to the New York Bar.
After working briefly as an immigration attorney, Gabriela discovered that she wanted to pursue a career in language services and began training in translation and interpretation. She completed Georgia State University’s Graduate Certificate in Translation in both the English/Spanish and Spanish/English language pairings. She earned her State Court Interpreter Certification in Alabama and Tennessee and her Healthcare Interpreter Certification. She is also an ATA Certified Translator, Spanish into English.
She has been working as a freelance interpreter and translator since then and has never looked back. Gabriela is now pursuing Federal Court certification.
Gabriela is currently on hiatus while she is pursuing her Masters in Conference Interpretation (EN-ES-FR) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California.
When she’s not working or studying, Gabriela enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, bettering her amateur baking skills, and working on her French.
